This incredible styled shoot was inspired by the movie Dune.

Breath. Seclusion. Romance.

Imagine you and your love sharing an intimate elopement on the Oregon Coast or Eloping in the Alvord Desert.

You share your wedding dinner in a Cave or first dance on the Sand Dunes at sunset!?

We can help you plan this type of romantic elopement experience.

About this shoot

This shoot was dreamed up by Stacy of Plentiful Events and Sarah of Forest & Flora Floristry- both based in Southern Oregon. The Photos featured in this blog post are by the talented Lahna Marie Photography and Gabriel Ramirez Photography.

We loved the minimalist wedding vibes, the peace, tranquility and casual elegance of the couple's attire, gold metal elements in the bride's hair and facial jewelry, gold silverware and gold leaf on the invitations, the foraged and found floral arrangements and neutral color scheme of this elopement styled shoot. We all adventured over to Bandon on the Oregon Coast and captured a magical table scape in a cave lit by candles, the couple climbing on a rock face and finally a ceremony and cake set up at the Reedsport Oregon Sand Dunes.

The Cave Table Scape featured woven basket chairs at a low table, natural fiber table linens, clay and stone cups, plates and candle holders, gold silverware and dried floral arrangements. Each plate held a decorative pear and menu printed on burlap material. The moodiness of the cave was enhanced be lit by candles lining the rock walls. I wanted to stay there and just soak it all up. Can you imagine sitting down to have dinner in this sea cave? We also captured the invitation suite here in the cave. Lahna Marie Photography styled it and I loved the addition of the sand on top of the stationary which added texture and movement in our film.

The Dunes- We made it to the Reedsport sand dunes right around sunset and hurried out onto the sand. We hauled all the gear out to the spot Sarah and Stacy had scouted and captured beautiful ceremony details, epic shots of the couple walking along the top of the sand dunes, the cake, sand pouring, and the magical sunset with stunning pink skies.

Pro Tip: Be Careful and aware of your surroundings! ALWAYS carry flags, cones and lights when on the dunes! (As videographers we always have our Aputure lights which came in super handy at the end of the shoot running back to the cars in the dark! Literally felt like we were in the Dune movie running for our lives to get away from the sand worms! I have video footage of this I hope to share someday lol)

If anyone wants style their elopement or wedding after a movie theme, we are ALL IN!

How we filmed it
We used a vintage soviet lens for some of these video shots to imitate the Dune Movie aesthetic (which was also shot with this vintage lens!) We also edited in more of a Flat and Warm editing style like the movie, incorporating sun flairs, blowing sand & shadows. We even tried to incorporate the Dune sand walk up to their wedding arch! Our music selection from Artlist io was similar in style to the movie and enhanced the mystery and epic nature of this Dune Inspired Wedding styled shoot. When we were preparing for this shoot, we binge watched the movies, screen shotting things we liked, writing down words and feelings, looking for interesting camera angles and moods we could include in the styled shoot. We noted the colors, sun flairs, out of focus shots, music, sounds and words used to see if we could incorporate them into our shooting. In the cave, we added a light to simulate light tunnels in the underground cavern in the movie. I didn't end up including this into our film, but am planning on editing some smaller cuts for social media in the future to include more details from this day!
